@Horace said in Meanwhile, in Maine...: Then they would change back if the popular vote looked to be favoring the wrong candidate. Exactly!! LOL Right now, I am sure that the % of Democrat favoring this is quite high and the % of Republics favoring it is quite low. Fast forward X years in the future, and things may be just the opposite if Republics are winning the popular vote but losing the electoral.

Yes, I have heard that. Right now, it costs more to recycle a plastic bottle and turn into a new one than to make one from scratch. (Interesting that most plastic things are petroleum based. Oil has to go up quite a bit in price before plastic recycle will work)

India was a mess when I was there in 2006. Especially the cities, but even the villages.

I noticed they went right probably a decade ago. But not nearly as much as the NYT has gone left.

Young enough to do the crime, young enough to do the time. I have far more sympathy when they are contemplating jail time for an 87 year old who committed the crime 5 decades ago.

Two terms ago there was a moderate democrat running in the primary who was the son of the founder of Regeneron, a biotech about three miles north of me. I thought he would have been a great rep. Mondair Jones won instead, he and Richie Torres in the south Bronx, elected at the same time, were the first two openly gay black men elected to congress. Mondair lost his seat two years later due to redistricting. Bowman was elected to our new district. Mondair Jones was on my bill. I’ve visited Torres once and Bowman twice and they haven’t signed on yet. I even have a photo with me and our CEO and Bowman in hos office. If I can find a copy I’ll post it.

DIdn't seem to bother the ACLU, back in the day when they stood for "liberties." In those days the ACLU was a nonpartisan watchdog…

@LuFins-Dad said in Jordan's Comment: @Jolly said in Jordan's Comment: A man who thinks he's a woman wants to have sex with women? And some people consider that normal? We are doomed... Not just women, Lesbians. He won’t have a straight woman. And if the Lesbian doesn’t want to, then she’s a Transphobe. Used to have a good-lookin' Pacific Islander gal that worked for me. Her brother also was a person endowed with good features. The lad went through a trying and bitter divorce, and just couldn't seem to climb out of the Pit of Despair. Well, my gal worked in a department with a drag queen, stage name was Ginger Snaps. He/she said the best thing for brother would be a wild weekend and he knew just the right medicine. They all met up at a gay bar in town and brother was introduced to his dates...A lesbian couple who assured the brother that if he paid for the recreational substances, they would address his depression problem. He paid. That was on Friday night. He didn't make it to work Monday morning. I guess the lad was of a delicate nature and the carousing took a toll on him. Because, for at least two days, our inebriated and medicated subject of the story got blued, screwed, chewed and tatooed. I'm not sure of any long-term effects, but it certainly cured his depression in the short term...

@Horace said in The Right to Disconnect: I rather enjoy the rare times we're doing something urgent and need to do something at an odd hour. But it's rare enough that I can enjoy it. At one of my previous jobs, there was a kind of bet every July about who would be the first to have a mental breakdown. The winner was awarded free beer for the night the next time we were all able to go out. Which was in August. I consider that and plenty of other incidents sufficiently fucked up that I welcome some form of regulation to limit work intrusion into home life.

@Jolly said in All Abortion, All The Time: Trump is leading Biden on every major issue, except abortion, where Biden does lead in the polls. Today, three swing states submitted the necessary paperwork and petitions to place pro-abortion measures on the November ballot.I I look for more to follow. That was the Rove playbook in 2004 but with gay marriage referenda. And it worked.
